A Tribute to Gilles Larrain
A monotype portrait tribute to my friend and artistic collaborator Gilles Larrain, celebrated photographer of 1970s New York City alternative culture, who has died at 86. Gilles shot portraits of stars like John Lennon and Miles Davis. But he is best remembered for “Idols,” an intimate look at a vital New York underground.
Levitt Pavilion Riverfront
“Levitt Pavilion”, 2024 is a 30 × 22 inch landscape painting of the Levitt Pavilion in Westport CT, from the vantage point of Booler's Point on the Saugatuck River. This piece was painted from life using numerous plein air studies made on-site, and from the imagination. Stylistic references include 19th-century tonalism and romanticism.
