The composition and drawing is based on a plein air landscape painted on the east end of Long Island at Balsam Farm Stand in Amagansett, New York. The referenced oil painting was exhibited at Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor.
Inspiration sources include 19th century tonalism, the Barbizon School, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, and Jean-François Millet.
