 Figuratively
Speaking Oct. 4 through Nov. 2 at
the Surface Library Gallery
 Surface Library
Gallery will host “Figuratively Speaking”, a group
show of seven artists presenting their
interpretations of the human form. Drawings,
paintings, photography and sculpture by Abby
Abrams, Ann Brandeis, Eunice Golden, Barbara
Groot, Richard Macdonald, Jerry Schwabe, and
Thomas J. Shelford. In celebration, Surface
Library Gallery will host an opening reception on
Saturday, Oct. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit
runs though Nov. 2.
 "Grisaille" by Thomas J.
Shelford | “Figuratively
Speaking” encompasses an eclectic fusion of
purists, activists and unapologetic
traditionalists working in bronze, clay, oils,
graphite and celluloid.
Eunice Golden’s
work is included in the Elizabeth Sackler
collection at the Brooklyn Museum and in this show
she displays radical nudes from her Garden of
Delights series created in the early 1970s. Jerry
Schwabe’s elegant bronze forms evoke facets of
Rodin and Degas, and Thomas J. Shelford’s skill
and simplicity is manifested in intensely
atmospheric drawings, paintings and grisailles.
Ann Brandeis has just received several IPA Lucie
Awards for excellence in photography.
Surface Library Gallery is an atelier and
